Yipes Class of Service (CoS)
Today's dynamic, knowledge-based enterprises are reliant upon the rapid and cost-effective delivery of multiple business-critical applications. However, when application demands exceed network bandwidth availability, critical real-time traffic will often be delayed or disrupted because of the resources consumed by less time-sensitive applications. The result is an inefficient, and therefore cost-ineffective, use of valuable IT resources.
Yipes CoS Solutions
To address this problem, Reliance Globalcom offers a Class of Service (CoS) feature that allows enterprise network managers to prioritize multiple competing traffic classes to protect or ensure high service levels for performance-sensitive application traffic.
Yipes CoS accomplishes this by allowing network managers to assign traffic for each application to one of four classes: Real-time, Critical, Priority and Standard. In a standard implementation these might correspond to the following enterprise applications in order: voice, video, hosted applications and email.
Some frequent applications of Class of Service are as follows:
- To prevent choppy VoIP or IPVideo
- To increase the efficiency of provisioned bandwidth
- To improve the performance of a global enterprise network deployment
- To eliminate the need for more complex internal network deployments
Yipes CoS Benefits
Reliance Globalcom's network services run on a global Ethernet network that implements a strict no-over-subscription policy. In addition, a layer 2 Ethernet transport offers low-latency and very low packet loss connectivity; end-to-end customer data all follows the same network path, meaning that all traffic has the same network performance.
When deployed, Yipes CoS puts the customer in control of its traffic allowing the prioritization of enterprise applications such as voice, CRM and database applications, video, hosted applications and email. In meshed network environments, CoS becomes an essential method of prioritizing data at locations with differing bandwidths.
Reliance Globalcom Features Availability
Yipes CoS is available with Managed Metro Ethernet, Managed WAN Ethernet and Managed WAN VPLS services. These services are provisioned over Reliance Globalcom's global VPLS-based best-of-breed network, designed to provide the reliability, security and ease of use of Ethernet with the scalability, multipoint-to-multipoint support and resiliency features of MPLS.

"For most enterprises today, the critical factor impacting the decision to migrate to VoIP is the quality of the network that will carry an organization's voice traffic. The high quality and low-latency of (Reliance Globalcom) eliminate this factor from the equation."
