Yipes Wins Four Prestigious Industry Awards
SAN FRANCISCO: January 16, 2007 — Yipes Enterprise Services, Inc., today announced that it won four prestigious industry awards in the second half of 2006. The awards were presented by influential publications Network World, Light Reading, and the San Francisco Business Times and by market research group Heavy Reading. These awards are a testament to the leadership, strength, and growth of Yipes and the rapid adoption of Ethernet services. According to Infonetics Research, worldwide Ethernet services revenue is expected to jump another 280 percent between 2005 and 2009 to $22.5 billion.
John Scanlon, CEO of Yipes, was named by Network World as one of "The 50 Most Powerful People in Networking" in the Communications category, which recognizes the 50 most influential and persuasive personalities giving shape to the network industry. The publication noted that "Metro Ethernet is hot, and this 20-year telecom veteran has helped light that fire during his two-year tenure at one of its biggest pure-play providers. Scanlon has been widely praised for focusing Yipes internationally and vertically, particularly in the financial and legal services markets."
Light Reading recognized Yipes with a Leading Lights Award for Best New Service, Private Company, which is awarded to the service provider or carrier that has deployed a market-leading, revenue-generating service based on next-generation telecommunications technology. "If Ethernet services are to win the confidence of enterprise users, they'll need to prove themselves in the most demanding vertical sector of them all: finance," said Light Reading. "Yipes has taken that challenge head-on with FinancialConnect!, an Ethernet-based extranet for electronic trading aimed at banks, brokers, and other financial institutions."
Heavy Reading gave Yipes its "Ethernet Service Provider of the Year Award - Innovation." This award is bestowed on a carrier that shows bright new ideas in technology as well as in sales and marketing and that is clearly committed to shifting customers onto Ethernet, away from legacy services. Heavy Reading praised Yipes for its strong efforts in making Ethernet more attractive with new technologies, more stringent SLA options, and a choice of access methods (i.e., copper and fiber).
Yipes was also recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as a one of the top 10 companies in the "Fast 100," a list that ranks the 100 fastest growing, privately held companies headquartered in the Bay Area. Ranking is based on revenue growth during a three-year period; Yipes experienced a 298 percent revenue growth since 2003.
In addition to the above awards, Yipes was named a finalist in Light Reading's Leading Lights Award for Top IPO or M&A Candidate. Finalists are private companies that clearly have the management, products, and financial stability to launch a successful IPO or be acquired on their own terms within the next 12 months.
