Yipes Enterprise Services Completes Carrier Network Integration with Global Partners in Key International Business Hubs
San Francisco, California — June 27, 2006: Yipes Enterprise Services, Inc., the leading global provider of managed, end-to-end Ethernet solutions for enterprise customers, today announced it has completed the integration of key international carrier partners, expanding the capabilities of its Global Area Network (GAN) services in major business hubs across Europe, the Pacific Rim and Latin America.
Yipes' (www.yipes.com) global partners include major providers of Ethernet services in Tokyo, Hong Kong, London and Mexico, as well as regional carriers with a presence in major cities across Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. The successful integration of these carriers underscores Ethernet's evolution from its humble beginnings as a local area network (LAN) technology through the "metro" services era up to its role today as a truly global and cost effective connectivity solution.
"Global carrier cooperation is critical to the growth and evolution of Carrier Ethernet services. By working closely with our partners, we have successfully integrated multiple carrier networks with different network hardware platforms into a seamless, global service delivery platform," said Dr. Kamran Sistanizadeh, chief technology officer of Yipes. "While there is more complexity in managing multi-vendor networks, end users receive a consistent user interface and experience whether they are in San Francisco, Hong Kong, Tokyo or London."
As an original pioneer of Ethernet connectivity for the enterprise more than six years ago, Yipes has set an aggressive pace of international service expansion. Key carriers integrated within Yipes GAN now include Asia Netcom, Exponential-e, HGC, Interoute, MetroRED and Wharf T&T. Yipes continues to certify new carriers.
In order to certify its integration partners, Yipes has successfully tested network-to-network interfaces (NNI) to ensure network data integrity, established detailed network operations procedures for handling customers jointly and required strict service level guarantees. With its "access agnostic" approach, Yipes now provides Ethernet services with near ubiquitous global coverage over multiple access types, including fiber, copper (T1, E1, DS3, E3) and now other providers' Ethernet networks. In providing a fully-managed service, Yipes is responsible for the end-to-end delivery, monitoring and management of the local access, the long haul network and the edge network equipment. With its growing list of carrier partners, Yipes is able to customize a multi-vendor solution that meets client needs for carrier, physical path and logical path redundancy.
"As one of the fastest growing segments in the telecom industry, enterprise Ethernet has evolved beyond the metro and into one of the most effective trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific connectivity solutions available today," said Keao Caindec, chief marketing officer of Yipes. "As Yipes continues to accelerate our pace of growth — particularly in the financial and legal verticals — our customers are relying on us to provide them reliable, scalable and cost effective connectivity across the U.S. and around the world. Our global partners ensure our clients receive the unique value Yipes is known for, regardless of their continent or time zone."
"The demand for trans-Pacific global Ethernet services is growing. Cooperating with Yipes allows us to deliver more comprehensive solutions to our global customer base," said Gina Haspilaire, managing director of Asia Netcom North America. "The rigorous testing and technical integration that Yipes required to integrate our networks is representative of the outstanding customer service they provide. This quality assurance is important to Asia Netcom as we deliver complex communications solutions to customers from North America to Asia."
"By establishing a network-to-network interface with Interoute, Yipes has direct access to Interoute's entire European Ethernet network. With the largest geographic coverage of any European network provider, Interoute is able to provide Yipes with access to 61 European commercial centers and 19 major metros," said James Kinsella, chief executive officer, Interoute. "Having worked with Yipes for more than two years, we have come to value their experience in managing large Ethernet-based networks and their clear dedication to global carrier Ethernet cooperation."
The Yipes network has more than 14,000 fiber route miles and reaches most major cities in the U.S., Europe, the Pacific Rim and Latin America.
