Yipes Introduces Global Multipoint Ethernet WAN Solutions Using VPLS Technology
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA — September 13, 2005 — Yipes Enterprise Services, Inc. (www.yipes.com) the pioneer in managed, end-to-end Ethernet solutions, today announced the deployment of Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) within its global Ethernet service delivery platform.
At its core, VPLS technology combines the benefits of Ethernet with those of Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS). VPLS globally delivers multipoint-to-multipoint, scalable, switched Ethernet network services, providing multiple sites with the functionality of a link to a single Ethernet LAN. Deployment and management of Yipes Ethernet services is straightforward and cost-effective -- particularly when compared to Frame Relay and other legacy solutions that are not as scalable and require significant investments in networking hardware.
Yipes VPLS uses Juniper Networks M-series multiservice routing platforms to create a full MPLS LSP mesh over which all Yipes Ethernet wide area network services operate at Layer 2. This technology allows the seamless and transparent delivery of Yipes Ethernet services to all global enterprise customers requiring a multipoint solution.
Yipes VPLS, now available in all service areas across the Yipes network, complements Yipes' global expansion and allows enterprises to cost effectively replace global Frame Relay, ATM and private line networks with simple, scalable, cost-effective Ethernet solutions.
"VPLS is the technology that is enabling Yipes to extend its Ethernet-based network capabilities across its local and international markets, addressing the large scale implementation needs of both the mid-size enterprise and large, multi-nationals,"said Dr. Kamran Sistanizadeh, chief technology officer of Yipes. "With Juniper Networks equipment, Yipes has utilized their MPLS experience to create a VPLS offering that brings the unique benefits of Juniper Networks' Layer 2 bridge technology to the entire range of service options available with Yipes' scalable, high performance network."
"Yipes' new VPLS service looks like an excellent service offering, and we're pleased to play such a key role in their network,"stated Judy Beningson, vice president of product management, Infrastructure Products Group, Juniper Networks. "With our innovative MPLS VPLS implementation, Juniper Networks M-series provides the reliability, performance, network automation, and advanced VPLS features to enable Yipes to roll out this new service."
